Applying a label straight across a batch of pouches can be awkward when every empty pouch shifts under your hand. The PL400e feeds each compatible unfilled, flat pouch through adjustable guides and applies a pre-printed roll label in a repeatable position.

It is a useful fit for producers preparing empty bags or pouches before filling, including compatible packs with zips, hanging holes or valves. Its integrated liner rewinder collects the spent backing paper during a run. If you need to label already filled, bulky packs, ask us to check another method.

Overview

The PL400e is a semi-automatic applicator built around empty pouches rather than bottles. Set the guides and label position, then insert each pouch. The machine takes it through the rollers and applies one label during that feed. Its display includes a counter and saved settings for repeat jobs.

How a pouch run works

  1. Load an outward-wound, die-cut roll of pre-printed labels and thread the waste liner into the integrated rewinder.
  2. Set the pouch guides and label offset using a sample pouch.
  3. Insert each empty pouch, allow the machine to feed it, then check the finished placement.

DTM quotes up to 1,300 pouches per hour in suitable conditions. The figure depends on the operator, pouch construction and label stock. This machine applies labels; it does not print them.

Choose Setup

Choose the PL400e for repeat labelling of flat, unfilled pouches. The AP550e is a different approach for rigid flat packages and other flat surfaces; it should not be treated as an interchangeable pouch feeder.

Confirm pouch and roll fit

Check the pouch width, height and thickness, including zips, valves and seams, and tell us where the label should sit. The standard published pouch width starts at 81 mm. DTM lists a separate narrow-bag adapter, but we need to confirm its fit and the new minimum width for your pouch before offering it. If you need labels on both sides, ask us to confirm the two-pass workflow with your exact pouch.

FAQs

Can I label pouches after filling them? The PL400e is designed for unfilled, flat pouches. A filled pouch can have a thickness and shape that prevents the required feed and alignment.

Can I put a label on both sides?DTM describes front and back pouch labelling, but its specification lists one label per feed. We would check the second-pass setup for your pouch rather than promise both sides in a single pass.

Will zip closures or valves cause trouble?DTM lists compatible pouches with zips, hanging holes and aroma valves, but their position and thickness matter. Send us a sample or photographs and measurements if your pouch is unusual.

What if my pouch is narrower than 81 mm?The standard published minimum width is 81 mm. A separate narrow-bag adapter is listed; we can confirm suitability and price for your pouch with DTM.

Does the PL400e print the labels? No. It applies compatible pre-printed labels from a roll; the label printing step is separate.
