Freshly printed labels are easier to store and feed into an applicator when they are wound evenly onto a roll. The powered RW-4 collects compatible label output from a desktop printer, with guides and a dancer arm to help manage tension.

It can also be set up as an unwinder to feed a printer. The RW-4 suits rolls up to 120 mm wide; for wider stock, compare the RW-7 and RW-8 before ordering.

Overview

The RW-4 is a powered desktop winder for preparing roll-fed labels as part of a printing and application workflow. It can rewind printed labels onto a core or unwind supply stock in a compatible external-feed setup. It is separate from a bottle or pouch applicator: it handles label rolls, not containers or the waste backing paper inside an AP380e or PL400e.

Typical workflow

Printer output feeds to the RW-4; once the roll is finished, you can use it for storage or load a suitable roll onto a compatible label applicator. Check winding direction and the applicator’s core, roll diameter and label requirements before treating the two machines as a matched setup.

Choose Setup

Choose RW-4 if your label web is at most 120 mm wide and the finished roll is no larger than 203 mm in diameter. Choose RW-7 for up to 177.8 mm width but a smaller 152.4 mm maximum diameter. Choose RW-8 for a heavier/wider roll on a 76.2 mm core.

Check the entire label path

Tell us your printer, label material, width and core size, plus the machine that will use the rewound roll. Very flexible film stocks can slip or wind unevenly; DTM recommends a test when media behaviour is uncertain.

FAQs

Is a rewinder needed for the AP380e’s waste liner? No. The AP380e has its own waste-liner rewinder. The RW-4 collects finished printed labels or supplies a roll to a compatible printer.

Can it both rewind and unwind?Yes, with the appropriate setup. Check the printer’s external feed and winding direction first.

What core sizes fit?DTM lists 25.4 mm use without an adaptor and includes adaptors for 38.1, 50.8 and 76.2 mm cores.

Will flexible clear or plastic labels wind cleanly?Material stiffness and surface behaviour affect winding. If your film is particularly flexible, send us a sample description so we can ask DTM about a test.
