A compact desktop printer can run out of room for the larger label roll you want to use. The UW-4 sits beside the printer and lets a compatible roll feed from an external holder as the printer draws the label web through.

It is a passive unwinder: it needs no power and does not rewind printed labels. If you want finished labels gathered neatly onto a new roll after printing, choose a powered RW-series rewinder instead.

Overview

The UW-4 is a freestanding roll holder for feeding label stock into a compatible printer. Its simple setup suits a workstation where an external supply roll is useful but powered winding is unnecessary.

What it does in a print workflow

  1. Place a compatible supply roll on the UW-4.
  2. Position the unwinder near the printer and thread the label web through the printer as instructed for that model.
  3. The printer draws labels from the roll; the UW-4 rotates freely without a motor.

Check whether your printer supports externally fed media and has the correct label path. The UW-4 does not print, apply or rewind labels.

Choose Setup

Choose UW-4 when you only need to feed a larger supply roll into a compatible printer and want a passive holder. Choose RW-4, RW-7 or RW-8 when you need motorised rewinding of printed labels, or powered unwinding in a suitable setup.

Check your roll and printer

Confirm the roll width, outside diameter, weight and core opening, plus your printer model and feed path. DTM’s product text quotes a conservative 114.3 mm roll width for UW-4. If your roll is wider, ask us to verify the limit and alignment before ordering.
