Wider label stock and heavier rolls need more support beside the printer. The RW-8 is DTM’s powered winder for stock up to 220 mm wide and rolls up to 250 mm in diameter, built around a 76.2 mm core.

It can rewind finished printer output or unwind a supply roll in a compatible setup. This is the larger model to consider when your roll exceeds the RW-4/RW-7 capacity, provided your printer and downstream machine can handle the same media.

Overview

The RW-8 uses a sturdy support arm, guides and adjustable speed/direction controls for larger label rolls. It handles printed labels as part of the printer workflow; it does not apply labels to products and is not needed to collect the built-in waste liner on an AP380e or PL400e.

From printer to applicator

Once a roll has been printed and rewound, confirm its core, finished diameter, web width and winding direction against the applicator’s specifications. A roll that fits the RW-8 may still be too wide or large for the applicator you intend to use.

Choose Setup

Choose RW-8 if you need capacity up to 220 mm width, 250 mm diameter or 8 kg, and use a 76.2 mm core. For smaller stock, the RW-4 or RW-7 may be easier to match. The RW-8 is not a universal upgrade: check the printer and the next machine in the line before ordering.

Confirm your media

Send us the printer model, web width, roll diameter and weight, 76.2 mm core and label material. Very flexible label films can affect winding; arrange a stock check if uncertain.

FAQs

Will a roll from RW-8 fit my label applicator? Not necessarily. The RW-8 accepts larger and wider rolls than some applicators. Check the finished roll against the applicator’s width, diameter, core and wind-direction limits.

Can I use the smaller RW-4/RW-7 core adaptors?DTM lists the RW-8 for 76.2 mm cores and does not list the smaller adaptors in its supplied contents. We can confirm any special requirement before ordering.

Can it act as an unwinder?Yes, in a compatible printer setup. The exact label path and direction depend on the printer.

Is it for collecting backing paper from an AP380e?No. The AP380e includes its own waste-liner rewinder. The RW-8 handles supply or finished label rolls near the printer.
